We have the global experience, network and team to support our portfolio companies in accelerating their innovative ideas into new healthcare treatments.

Investment Criteria: We are a science led firm focusing on innovative therapies and technologies in areas of high unmet need. Unconstrained by geography or institution, we have the ability to support the best life science innovation without restriction. Initial investments in early-stage projects up to $1M USD.

Focus: Novel therapeutics, medical diagnostics, and digital health solutions with first or best in class potential. We focus on developing high impact science, with the potential to dramatically improve patient outcomes.

Geography: Unconstrained approach to sourcing innovation. Axcend benefits from an extensive global network including pharmaceutical and academic partners, biotechnology networks.

Team

Our team has a complimentary mix of industry experience, deep operating skills, and financial and scientific acumen that provides the firm a strong foundation to support our portfolio companies.

Co-founder and partner, Chris has more than 25 years of life science experience having held senior leadership roles at Bristol Myers Squibb, Novartis, Boehringer Ingelheim, in France, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, and as Senior Vice President and Head of North America for Sanofi. He has a successful track record in the development and commercialization of novel therapeutics and has led global teams in research and development, strategic operations and planning, business development, and mergers and acquisitions.

Christopher Kaplan

Co-founder and partner, Jarek has 15 years of life science experience having held senior leadership roles at Novartis, Abbott, Abbvie and AstraZeneca in Switzerland, Belgium and Poland. Prior to his career in life sciences, he was a Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey & Company in the Warsaw and Chicago offices, where he primarily served clients in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology and medical device industries.
